Dr. Andrea L. Neimann earned her medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. She practiced as a physician in Sri Lanka, England and South Africa before moving to Philadelphia, where she completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Albert Einstein Medical Center. Board certified in Internal Medicine, she worked as an attending physician in Pennsylvania and New Jersey for several years before transitioning to Dermatology. In 2004, she was awarded a National Research Service Award (N.R.S.A.) Training Grant in Dermatoepidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia and in 2006, earned a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology (M.S.C.E.) from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focused on the relationship between psoriasis, cardiovascular disease and cardiovascular risk factors. Her clinical research skills in Dermatology then led her to a research fellowship in dermatopharmacology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, and it was there that she completed a residency in Dermatology. She recently joined the NYU Dermatology Faculty as an Assistant Professor (Clinical) and Director of Dermatopharmacology.
Dr. Neimann’s clinical interests include medical dermatology, women’s health, psoriasis and inflammatory diseases of the skin. Her academic interests include teaching residents and designing and conducting clinical trials. She is board certified in both Dermatology and in Internal Medicine.
An avid world traveler, Dr. Neimann enjoys a broad variety of ethnic cuisines and wines. She enjoys cooking and tennis. In addition to the Queen’s English, she speaks Afrikaans and some Hebrew.
